All London Pubs, Clubs and Restaurants Should Have a Fire Safety Risk Assessment Done

All London Pubs, Clubs and Restaurants should have a Fire Safety Risk Assessment – it’s a legal requirement! A suitable and sufficient Fire Safety Risk Assessment will identify the venues Smoking Policy and this should be taken seriously and managed accordingly as cigarettes are a common cause of Fire!

A Fire at a Pub in Woodberry Down destroyed the lean-to attached to the Pub and a small part of the fascia of the Building. The Fire was thought to have been caused by a carelessly discarded cigarette, which ignited a sofa!
Cigarettes are a common cause of Fires but so many people fail to ensure they are stubbed out properly.
London Fire Risk Assessments advice is as follows:
·         Never leave cigarettes unattended and always ensure ashtrays are carefully emptied of all the debris.
·         If you do choose to smoke cigarettes, it is absolutely vital you ensure your cigarette is completely out when you’ve finished smoking it. If you don’t, you risk causing a Fire, which could not only destroy your home, but also cost you your life.
·         If you are the identified ‘Responsible Person’ then you must ensure all your Staff are trained in your venues Smoking Policy and that they follow an end of day procedure.
If the worst happens as in the case outlined above it is imperative that your Staff are trained in the Evacuation Plan. Your Fire Safety Risk Assessment should have a Fire Safety Emergency Plan included in the report – it will detail what you should do in the event of a Fire. Fire Safety Training is essential for all Pubs, Clubs and Restaurants and should be kept up to date and recorded.
London Fire Risk Assessments Fire Safety Training is based on London Fire Brigades Fire Safety Training as all our Assessors have personally been trained by them. London Fire Risk Assessments  Fire Marshal Training is carried out at the Pub, Club or Restaurant so as to incorporate any specific requirements needed for an effective evacuation.
