London Hostel fire – Fire Safety Risk Assessments help to save lives.




London Fire Brigade has reported on their incident page that a fire broke out in a hostel in Vauxhall. A bedsit on the First floor was completely destroyed by the blaze. Thankfully there was no one in the flat at the time of the fire. Four men from the floor affected by fire were led to safety by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. They were all suffering from smoke inhalation and two of the men were taken to hospital. To read more click here.


London Fire Risk Assessments advice to customers:
Having a suitable and sufficient Fire Safety Risk Assessment can help to save lives. Just going through the Fire Safety Inspection process will identify different areas of Fire Safety concern.
The Responsible Person for the Hostel must ensure that the Fire Safety Risk Assessment for the premise is up to date and any Fire Safety remedial works identified are actioned upon – it’s the law.
Training of Staff is just one of the essential requirements – in a time of Emergency it is imperative that all Staff know the premise Fire Safety Emergency Plan and how to react in a time of Fire.
